Biofilm

In partnership with the Industrial Microbiology Laboratory (UMR 5503) of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Toulouse, our teams have developed tools allowing the study of microbial biofilms:

• “Biofilm” model on inert support – Dynamic or static model (in microplate): The formation of mono or polymicrobial biofilms allows for different applications:
  • Screening and/or validation of detergent and/or disinfectant products
  • Validation of cleaning and/or disinfection processes
  • Evaluation of adhesion delay after initial treatment or continuously

• “Artificial Mouth” model : The design of a specific bioreactor allowing the installation of dental supports (or hydroxyapatite pellets) and the regular supply of nutritive medium and saliva leads to the evaluation of products or treatments likely to modify the formation of dental plaque. The tests focus on monomicrobial or polymicrobial plaques (Streptococcus spp., Actinomyces spp., Lactobacillus spp., Fusobacterium spp.,…).

Our work in Research and Development is particularly illustrated by this field. Our knowledge in general, animal, and more specifically human microbiology allows us to offer you specific protocols related to the use of prebiotics/probiotics and compounds with an impact on microbial floras.

These protocols range from the development and validation of in vitro models to the monitoring of floras in vivo (sample analysis).

Numerous statistical or dynamic models have been developed for specific sectors (oral flora, intestinal flora, skin flora, …) and can be adapted according to your hypotheses/needs.

The expertise acquired over many years in the study of microbial biofilms enables us to meet your specific needs.
